This house and farm was occupied in 1856 by a Patrick Moran. He had a farm of 140 acres which seems to have then passed to his son, Daniel. At the top of this field once stood the Moran/McKenna homestead. The derelict house was cleared away a few years ago.
There is a headstone in the graveyard at St. Patrick`s church, Sixtowns which was erected by Daniel Moran in memory of his daughter, Bridget Moran who died on the 10th June 1856 aged 35.
Then we find that the last Moran to have lived here was another Bridget, as registered in the 1911 census as the only resident.
Some of this family is believed to have moved to Desertmartin at some stage and their off springs are still living there.
