This house was once the Murray homestead. However, a daughter of Murrays, Annie, married Francis McCullagh from Glenelly and they reared their family there. Their sons once owned the Deerpark Hotel, Antrim. The house got a makeover some years before young Frankie and his family moved to Cavanreagh.
This house was once owned by Hugh Murray who married Ann Cleary (Tam) from Cavanreagh. They had no children so they brought Ann`s niece, Annie Cleary, to live with them at a very young age. In 1901 Annie is listed in the family as being 11 years old while Hugh was 70 and Ann was 55. Felix McCann, from Tullybrick, was working there as a servant. Years later, when Hugh and Ann passed away, Annie married Francis McCullagh, from Glenchiel in Glenelly. They had four sons, John (1918 – 1995) , James (1923 – 1993), Louis (1926 -2001) and Francis (jun) (1919 – 1997). They also had one daughter, Mary (1921 – 2004).who married Jim Scullion from Knockloughrim.
The last residents of this house were the family of Francis (jun) McCullagh, his wife Mary and their two sons Gerard and Frankie.
We can see that some modifications were made to this house which would have been lime rendered and whitewashed with the older traditional type of windows, in earlier times. The Moneyconey road passed the top of the lane but the house could have been accessed from the main Sixtowns via a path with right of way and a footbridge across the Moyola.
