In 1911, Katie was 40 years of age and living here with her niece Mary Donnelly who is 22 and her nephew Michael who is 19. Katie was a relative of the Herons of Glengamna. This house was once sited on the right hand side of the lane up to Jock McNamee`s house and farm, just off the Owenreagh road. Katie was a well known character in the area and could be seen making her way to or from Draperstown, on her donkey and cart. She is said to have chewed tobacco and was not afraid of a days work on her farm. There were some good stories told about Katie.
