The first mention of this family in Cavanreagh is in 1856, where Nicholas Cassidy is head of the family. Nicholas is said to have come to the Sixtowns to work as a carpenter on the construction of St. Patrick`s Church. By the 1880`s the farm and house passes to his son Daniel. In the 1901 census, Daniel 40, is married to Mary 38, and they have a daughter, Bella, 9  and two sons, James 7  and Patrick 4. After Daniel and Mary passed on, James took over the farm and he

Daniel went to England and settled there. Seamus got married to Heagney from Kildress and moved up there permanently.  Kevin left Sixtowns after he left school and went into the bar trade. He owns the Hatfield Bar on the Ormeau Road in Belfast. Josephine got married to a man from Rouskey, Greencastle and worked as secretary in the local Primary School. There were two other daughters, Kathleen and Margaret.
